ORIGIN of GOSPEL ROCK

The idea for Gospel Rock came when Church Army Evangelist Frank McGregor
was preparing to speak at a leavers' service for St. Philip's Church Primary School in Bath in 1993.
The theme of the service was building firm foundations for life, with songs referring
to God and Jesus as our
"Rock"
.

With summer holidays in mind, Frank phoned a Rock Manufacturer in Blackpool
and placed an order for some extra special sea-side rock - instead of Blackpool it said
JESUS
through the centre.

At the end of the service, along with the gift of a new dictionary, the Headmaster gave out a stick of
rock to each of the school leavers as an enjoyable treat and reminder that God wanted JESUS to be
at the centre of their lives. It was an instant hit with children and adults alike, proving to be one of the
simplest illustrations of what it means to be a Christian - someone who has Christ in them,
at the centre, all the way through from beginning to end.

Since then, hundreds of different churches and organisations have used Gospel Rock with 70,000
sticks now gone "rockin all over the world" . The small rainbow coloured sweet with its riddle on the
label and JESUS' name down the centre has been given away to children and adults in villages,
towns, cities and seaside resorts around the UK,
in Hungary and Romania, Lebanon and Canada, Trinidad and Uganda, to children living rough
on the streets of Guatemala and others in South African Townships.
The novel idea of presenting the gospel through a stick of rock has also been
turned into an all action musical stage show.

Great for all kinds of evangelistic events
- family services, holiday clubs,
beach missions,
Halloween "Tract & Treat!".........

Gospel Rock is available to purchase at 50 sticks for £20 and 100 sticks for £32 in the UK.

One thing you can be sure of is that wherever it's used, and however it's
used, nothing will put the name of JESUS on people's lips quite as literally as Gospel Rock!
